The HYGITECH Mayo-Hegar tungsten needle holders feature the following characteristics:

• A standard "ratchet" closure : the handle features a closure system with notches via 2 racks on each side of the handle. The opening/closing is controllable by the fingers, allowing the practitioner to lock the spread of the clamps according to their needs, thus facilitating handling.

• Smooth external surface: the hinge has been specially designed to reduce the risk of snagging the suture during the knotting process, thus preventing thread breakage.

	Tungsten carbide is an alloy between carbon and tungsten. Tungsten carbide (TC) is the material with the highest melting point (3422°). Therefore, TC is a material of very high hardness with strong resistance to wear and oxidation. Tungsten carbide needle holders are recognizable by their two golden handles.
	A straight tip with non-slip jaws: short, grooved jaws facilitate needle handling and hold it firmly, preventing slippage during wound suturing. Tungsten carbide makes the active parts more resistant and durable to improve needle grip.
